Skype call not working, error message on Mac OSX or Windows (Journalist PRO, Broadcaster, Educator)

It seems Microsoft broke something in Skype after version 7.31, both for Mac OSX and Windows, released 11 July 2016. 

We currently have 2 workarounds that will tide you over until we have a better solution in place (hoping to have it done by New Year 2017).

Best solution:

Download the latest version of Hindenburg.

Update to the latest version of Skype.

This is a way to record any audio source on your computer. 

It is also a temporary workaround for our Skype integration. A better version is in the works, but this ensures you don't have problems calling between different versions of Skype and access it's full functionality until we have a permanent fix. 

Second best solution (only for one-on-one calls)

The advantage of this solution is that you can start and stop Skype calls from within Hindenburg, but you may experience problems with group calls or calling the latest version of Skype. 

Mac OSX solution:

First uninstall the existing installation of Skype by dragging the icon to the trash can and emptying it. 

Then download vers. 7.10 here and install it.

Be sure to turn off automatic update to keep that version until we tell you it is fixed.

Windows OS solution:

First uninstall the existing installation of Skype by going into your Control Panel and use the "Add/remove program" or "Uninstall or change a program" function (depending on Windows version).

Then download vers. 7.10 for Windows here and install it.

Be sure to turn off automatic update to keep that version until we tell you it is fixed.

We are working on integrating an alternative to Skype with the Call Recorder function in Hindenburg, since Microsoft seems to have forgotten its commitment to support the API for third party integration with Skype and we don't trust that they will get any better going forward.
